Research in probability, statistics, and applications, including stochastic processes, Bayesian inference, evolutionary tree reconstruction, statistical genetics, recent common ancestors of mankind, and developing statistical analyses in a variety of collaborative research projects with scientists. Directing the Statistical Analysis Core of the NIH Autism Center of Excellence program at the Yale Child Study Center.

Recent teaching has included courses in probability and Bayesian statistics, linear models, data analysis, fMRI data analysis.
